Third Citizens’ AGORA
Barka UK staff will participate in the third Citizens´ AGORA devoted to “Crises and Forms of Poverty”. The event will be held on 27 and 28 January 2011 by the European Parliament, in close partnership with the European Economic and Social Committee, in the framework of the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion (2010), followed by the European Year of Volunteering (2011).
The Citizens´ AGORA represents a link between the European Parliament and European civil society. It is a unique tool, in both structure and breadth, for discussing with citizens issues on Parliament’s agenda. The aim of this forthcoming Citizen’s AGORA is to raise awareness of the relation between the current financial and economic crisis and different forms of poverty, with particular emphasis on the prevention and ultimate eradication of poverty and social exclusion.
The third Citizens´ AGORA will offer a critical opportunity for mutual dialogue between civil society, European institutions and all those who have a role to play in this crucial matter.
