Chairman of the Community and Children’s Services Committee at the Corporation of The City of London Mr Billy Dove has invited Barka UK staff to attend Breakfast launch – ‘Personalised Budgets for Rough Sleepers –City of London’s Approach’.
Among a range of measures introduced to achieve the government’s goal to end rough sleeping by 2012 was a commitment to pilot personalised support to long term rough sleepers. In March 2009, Broadway and the City of London Corporation, in partnership with In Control and Communities and Local Government, began a pilot of personalised support to rough sleepers. This was a unique project using a person-centred approach for those who had the most entrenched lifestyle on the streets, achieving a success rate of over 50%. The event will be an opportunity to understand how the project worked, to ask questions of key partnership members about the approach and to consider how the learning from the research may be replicated
