SEC September 2011 summary:

* SEC has been working with 18 clients in total from beginning of second year of our project;

* there were 11 active clients in September including 1 new referral and 1 person who finished his program;

* 6 clients have been helped to find new employment or start temporary probation work;

* 9 clients have had stable long-term accommodation;

* 7 people actively looked for work and got our full support;

* 2 client applied for EHIC card;

* 1 client appealed against court decision and won his case

Hamburg meeting and pilot project extension

On the 14th and 15th of July 2011 representatives of Barka UK and Barka Foundation took part in an official meeting with Hamburg City Council, Polish Consulate to Hamburg and the Stadtmission to summarize the results of the work within the Barka – Stadtmission pilot project to support Eastern European migrants to Hamburg. The success of the six-month project (01/11/2011 – 30/04/2011) has been unambiguos. There were 1.962 contacts made with 418 beneficiaries from CEE countries. 55 persons were reconnected to rehabilitation programmes and to families and this includes 49  persons who returned to Poland, 2 persons reconnected to Romania, 2 persons reconnected to Slovakia and 2 persons reconnected to Lithuania. At the meeting it was agreed that the pilot project would be extended until May 2012. The Hamburg City Council has officially become the partner in the project.

During November 2010 until July 2011, over 70 rough sleeping Eastern European migrants from Hamburg were reconnected to employment and rehabilitation projects in home countries within the Barka-Stadtmission project.
