Barka UK partners visiting Barka Poland’s social support projects
On 27 June – 2 July Barka Network hosted a study visit of a delegation from London: Ms. Claire Ritchie, Strategic Commissioning Manager of Street Population Services in the Lambeth Council and Ms. Helen Lewis from the Crunch Consultancy in London. Both guests spoke at a conference, co-organised by Barka Foundation, on creating local standards for overcoming homelessness (the conference was held in Gdansk, northwestern Poland). After the conference Ms Ritchie and Ms Lewis visited Barka Network’s projects in western Poland including social cooperatives, centers for social integration, a social settlement for low-income families and the first Barka community house in the village of Wladyslawowo. The study trip has been an important part of the new training and formation programme which Barka UK/Barka PL have been developing to aim at training professionals in the field of pro-active social work within territorial public-private-social partnerships to end homelessness.
