Barka starts migrant support projects in the Netherlands
A delegation from Barka UK and Barka Foundation Poland was invited to take part in the study visit to the Netherlands. The visit was organised by local councils of Utrecht, The Hague and Amsterdam and it is a follow-up on the study trip of Dutch officials to Barka UK’s migrant support projects in London earlier this year.
The two-day study visit embraced meetings in The Hague and Utrecht with the local municipalities of these cities, representatives of local organisations and delegates from the Polish Embassy. Amsterdam council and police were present as well. The delegation met also conducted field visits to rehabilitation units and local day & night shelters. Barka Netherlands will implement both reconnnections scheme and employment programme to support Central and Eastern European migrants. The approximate start date for the projects in the Netherlands has been agreed to be the 1st of December 2011.
