Barka UK Free Helpline for Central and Eastern European (CEE) migrants
Barka UK Free Helpline for CEE migrants has been operating since October 2011 during which time it has helped to solve more than 3,000 cases including:
Voluntary reconnections
Referring clients to Barka UK Social Economy Centre for Employment Programme and psychological assistance
Referring clients to housing associations and offering support in making homelessness applications to councils
Referring clients to temporary shelters for homeless persons
Legal and administrative support
Welfare advice
Emotional support
Other
According to our database, from October 2011 to end of February 2014, 70% of clients were from Poland, 29% came from other Central and Eastern European countries and 1% were other nationals; women represented 46.5% of our clients.
